Everyone continues to face hurdles to attaining equality, from violence and sexual abuse to gender pay gaps and constrained reproductive rights.
If the present rate of development continues, women would have to wait 202 years to earn the same as men and have equal career prospects, according to the World Economic Forum's 2018 Global Gender Gap study.
Earth Mama Healing (EMH), a platform that promotes youth empowerment, has made it their purpose to assist young adults in facing life's problems and becoming successful persons on our planet.
Through their national and international activities, they exposed adolescents to excellent practices and cultivated practitioners in the United States, Canada, Honduras, Haiti, and Cuba. It is home to We Inspire Girls, Dream Academy, and Mother Love Programs.
"We think that all women can accept themselves as they are, determine their own futures, and transform the world," according to EMH.
EMH was founded in 2002 by Rolanda Allaha Wilkins but was incorporated later in 2011. Her mission was to create emotionally strong, spiritually connected, and socially smart girls and women and healing communities through teaching world culture, coping with inner and outer battles, and having a better perspective on life.
Rolanda is a creative program administrator, international community organizer, and traditional ceremonial leader.
She has worked in the field of adolescent and young woman health and wellness for over 25 years, focusing on youth development and leadership, international health and wellness, outreach, resource identification, communication, and media productions. She's worked in the United States, Canada, Ghana, Honduras, Haiti, Jamaica, Nigeria, and South Africa, among other places.
She was also awarded the 2008 Woman of the Year in the state of California. The National Association of Business Women Owners of Sacramento has also presented her with the 2009 Luminary Award.
Other than this, she has also received the Sisterhood Agenda Award from Sisterhood Magazine and was named a 2009 Hero of Human Services Resolution by the Sacramento Board of Supervisors.
Honoring Community Elders
She is also promoting a book called "Grandma Hands Tribute and Celebration" honoring elders who have paved a way for young people and women.
Grandma Hands Tribute and Celebration to date honors 103 community elders for their encouragement, commitment, and loving spirit that touched and transformed so many lives.
"The Black/African American/American Descendants Of Slavery group has had a spirit since the beginning of our journey in this nation. It has a calm demeanor. Gentle and old-fashioned. 'Grandma's Hands' is the name for a holy, feminine spirit," Rolanda says.
"I've been a witness of Grandma's Hands energy and a spectator to women standing strong in it. Everyday wombmen, such as community moms, teachers, homemakers, principals, yard duty staff, teacher's assistants, wombmen at the bus stop, everyday laborers, and so on, are manifestations of the divine spirit," she added.
They gave celebrated Grandma's Hands honorees every year for over 10 years to appreciate every woman in the community.
