SaniChair: The world’s First Self Sanitizing chair

COVID-19 has raised public awareness of the need for hygiene, as well as the need to improve present disinfection and cleaning practices. HiJoCor Technologies, a solutions based tech company headed by Janice Miles, seized this opportunity with its most recent product, the world's first smart self-sanitizing chair set to be released this year.

How does it work?

The arms of the Sanichair swivel inward to begin the cleaning procedure. When the chair is closed, the sanitization process begins. The chair is sanitized using a combination of ultraviolet light technology and a quick-dry sanitizing spray, a combination already proven to be 99.9 percent effective against germs and viruses.

From an Idea to a Real Product

The idea started 7 years ago from HiJoCor's Chief Operating Officer Isiah D. Joseph. He thought of developing a chair that would make sanitation easier.

According to Janice, as much as they wanted to see their idea realized, they knew it would be a long road ahead of them gathering funds to get started and reaching out to companies that could bring their creation to life. But after some years of saving and sourcing investment, they have now seen the idea that was conceptualized years ago, come to fruition at a crucial time when there is a huge market for ideas to help fight the spread of viruses like COVID-19.

"As a preliminary part of our research, we conducted surveys in which we had some amazing feedback. Overwhelmingly, we had an immense amount of interest from doctors and nurses articulating that the Sanichair would not only be a great addition to their practice as far as sanitization goes but it would also give patients an extra barrier of protection and could help to restore the confidence of the people walking in and sitting in the facility waiting to be seen," says Janice.

The Sanichair is a first-of-its-kind product. In an age where everything is getting more automated, HiJoCor thought that sanitizing seats in high-traffic areas should be no exception.

The company offers a one-of-a-kind method for disinfecting germs, viruses, and bacteria on chair surfaces in high-traffic places like hospitals, clinics, and airports, especially during a pandemic.

"Our goal for the Sanichair is to set a new standard in the seating arena. We see the chair as a global product and strive to meet the goal of seeing the Sanichair in many high-traffic areas around the world."
