L-Energy, a subsidiary of L Holding Group, marked Queen Elizabeth II's 70th year as the world's longest reigning monarch during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Singapore on 2 June 2022.
L-Energy joined the millions of supporters that gathered to celebrate this historical moment.
The big weekend of Platinum Jubilee festivities celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne. She is now the longest-reigning monarch in history.
She is "a constant graceful presence, presiding over the world and its affairs for the past seven decades…" in the words of Chieftain Ian Parkinson.
Atypical for a Singaporean company to be in the inner sanctum of this momentous occasion, L Holding Group Chairman, Mr Wee Kuang Tai MLJ RNA MNA, received a physical beacon to mark the occasion. Chieftain Ian Parkinson of St. Andrew's Society Singapore and acting CEO of L-Energy, Mr Ong Wei, both lit the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon.
Previously, the beacon was used to send warning messages during times of conflict. The lighting of beacons for a Royal event has been a tradition for centuries. The beacon was sent to Singapore by the Royal Pageant Master's team and endorsed by the Royal Pageant Master Mr Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR.
The Singapore beacon was one of 3,000 other beacons utilized across the UK and Commonwealth countries to be lit in Her Majesty's honor.
Beacons, in recent times, have been lit for Her Majesty in commemoration of her Silver (1977), Golden (2002), Diamond (2012) and now Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
L-Energy treated its guests to a spectacle not seen in Singapore before, with traditional British court dancing, bag-pipe music and a ceremony to mark the occasion which thrilled its audience.
In a perfect symphony of two cultures coming together as one, guests stood to attention, proudly singing both national anthems, "Majullah Singapura" and "God Save The Queen".
Mr W.K Tai, L-Energy's Chairman, expressed his gratitude about the event as an extension of his personal mission to create a lasting legacy for his company and people.
