TikTok influencer debunks these three common misconceptions about having multiple pets

There are many health benefits of owning a pet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the bond that people and their pets share is linked to several health benefits, including decreased cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It also alleviates feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms.

Given these benefits, it’s unsurprising that many households own a pet or two. However, it's a whole different story when an individual takes in not one, not two, but 17 pets. Enter TikTok influencer Celine Tran (@celinetails) as she shares the three most common misconceptions about having multiple pets under her roof.

Living with many pets can leave homes dirty and messy

Pets can be a fantastic company, but many people are concerned about the smell and dirt they bring into the house, not to mention the balls of hair, shavings, and droppings. But for Tran, these shouldn’t prevent households from owning multiple pets since there are many ways to ensure pets and houses stay daisy fresh and clean.

Tran has found a way to deal with the dirt and mess that works best for her. She hires cleaners to come and deep clean the entire house once every week. This strategy ensures that both she and her pets live in perfect condition and are in good health.

Caring for multiple pets won’t give people enough time

Taking care of many pets requires tons of time and energy that most people don’t have. For animals to be in tiptop shape, they need to have daily walks and tons of playtime. It would be physically impossible for Tran and her 17 pets to take on all the tasks by herself.

To meet all her pets' needs, whether it’s daily walking, playtime, or feeding time, Tran has hired two assistants to come over to walk the dogs, feed the cats, and help her with daily cleaning duties. According to Tran, there’s nothing wrong with seeking out help if it means being able to take good care of all her pets and ensure their well-being.

Hoarding multiple pets is good business

Some people who don’t understand the joy and happiness pets bring think that Tran has been hoarding animals and using them to increase her likes and following on social media platforms. They assume that she’s unable to care for them because there are just too many of them.

Growing up, Tran was always surrounded by pets, which, naturally, increased her affection towards animals. This environment has shaped her into the person that she is today, a pet lover who puts her animal friends’ well-being as the top priority.

Tran is adamant that people who don’t have sufficient knowledge, or at the very least don’t have the time or the interest to research how to take care of pets, shouldn’t even consider getting one. As for herself, the time she spent researching proper pet care and her extensive knowledge in the industry, having served as a veterinary technician for three years, provide her with the knowledge she needs to attend to each one.

Tran also stresses the importance of having the time, space, and money in pet care, all three resources she has at her disposal.

While owning pets can be therapeutic for many, there are a lot of responsibilities that come with it. This doesn’t mean that owning multiple pets should never cross a pet lover’s mind, especially if time, energy, and money aren’t going to be issues. What she’s saying is it might not be easy to own multiple pets, but it’s not impossible.
