Review: Harris Farm Online April 2020
Harris Farm Markets literally blows competitors away with the freshest and highest quality goods you can imagine. Coles & Woolies are hiding in their shadow.
Harris Farm specialises in fruit, vegetables, cheeses, breads, delicatessen and other grocery items. Some stores, such as the one in Cooks Hill in Newcastle, also feature a butchery. A couple of the stores we visited had restaurants inside too, as well as a liquor shop. How good is that!
They are Australia’s biggest individual retailer of fruit and vegetables and promote ‘odd-shaped’ fruit called “Imperfect Picks” at lower prices. We think they are simply the best option for fresh fruit and vegetables & we think you should totally shop with them.
What Can I Buy
How are they Rated
From what we can see, they are voted #1 by customers. The website “Product Review” seems to be the most active review site for grocery shoppers. Harris Farm markets has a score of 4.5/6 on Product Review, whereas Coles has a score of 2.5 and Woolies has a score of 2.1.
What about Competitors
There is no comparison. The meat, seafood and vegies are fresher and more wholesome than their competitors, Coles & Woolies. Sometimes the prices are higher, but you aren’t going to cop the same snap frozen fruit and vegies that are synonymous with Coles & Woolies.
Their competitive advantage is that they are literally based out of the markets in Flemington, so they get first dibs on the quality produce before anyone else.

X Factor
The website is really cool. They have a recipe section which is largely written by a famous Sydney based chef. Obviously the recipes require you to purchase ingredients from Harris Farm, but they are simply amazing (Jamie Oliver, eat your heart out).
What about the Downsides?
There aren’t many. Some items can be a bit pricey, but if you are looking for the most nutritious and organic produce you can find in NSW, then Harris Farm Markets is your best bet.
I also like supporting smaller, family run businesses and if you do too, this is another reason to shop with Harris Farm. The company was established in 1971, with a single shop in Villawood, New South Wales. In 2010, David Harris, the founder, was preparing to pass on leadership of the business to three of his five sons who work in the business.
Harris Farm Markets stock fruit and vegetables, cheeses, deli items, and gourmet groceries. The online delivery business has the highest customer rating on productreview.com.au for major supermarket chains in Australia.

Amazing Recipes
Check out this recipe from the Harris Farm website. They call it Braised Chicken with Porcini Mushrooms, Tuscan Cabbage & Sweet Potato. Cooking time about an hour and a half. Bloody delicious (and nutritious too!)
Imperfect Picks - Save Money & The Environment
IMPERFECT PICKS is Harris Farm’s seasonal range of fruit and vegetables that might not look perfect from the outside, but are as perfect as ever on the inside. The campaign helps reduce the astonishing statistic that 25% of farmers crops currently never leave the farm gate simply because they are a bit ugly, and do not meet the visual specifications of some consumers and supermarkets (Horticulture Australia).
This means that every time you buy an Imperfect Pick you will be helping us take more of the farmer’s crops, helping reduce food wastage, and most importantly saving up to 50%.
